DJI Mini 4 Pro

Introducing the Ultimate Mini Camera Drone with Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensing

DJI has done it again. They made the mini series even better by incorporating omnidirectional obstacle sensing, improving the camera with 4k/60fps HDR video AND 4K/100fps Slow Motion. Just like the DJI Mini 3, the 1/1.3” CMOS sensor can also turn 90 deg for true vertical shooting. 10-bit D-Log M and HLG enables anyone to color grade just like the professionals. The O4 transmission system allows up to 20km of 1080HD video transmission. Finally ActiveTrack360 allows you to swipe a path on the trace wheel interface to capture seamless cinematic shots. And all of this while keeping it under 250grams (when using the standard battery).

Besides the improvements above, when comparing the Mini 3 Pro and the Mini 4 Pro I did notice that the newer version comes with 2GB of internal storage. The ability to capture 3 mins of 4k footage is nothing crazy, but better than nothing. From my observations (not officially confirmed by DJI), it appears that the battery and camera size are the same as the previous general. This means that you can likely reuse the same ND filters and battery if you are upgrading from a Mini 3 or Mini 3 Pro.

The Mini 4 Pro starts at $759, the same price as the Mini 3 Pro. Unless the Mini 3 Pro goes down in price anytime soon, the choice is obvious which to get. Hopefully the upcoming holiday shopping seasons will bring savings to both drones.

I will be buying this drone as I value portability since travel often. In the past, I saw the Mini as subpar to my Mavic 1 Pro workhorse. However DJI has done an excellent job improving this drone since its first release in 2019 and everything about it exceeds the features of my Mavic Pro. In the past, the mini was seen as an entry level drone, but it now seriously packs a punch that really blurs the line between this and the Mavic pro. The 249grams brings loads of benefits (recreational flyer do not need registration or remote ID, you can fly over people, easy to transport, and quiet).
